Sneak Peek- Marie Craig

Having been a darkroom photographer in my early days,  I really miss seeing the magic that happens as the image slowly materializes in the chemical bath ( I very much like working in daylight, though!) I've tried various ways to replicate that feeling.

Cyanotypes drying on the line in New South Wales, Australia.
I have been intriqued by cyanotype, and having experimented a bit with it, decided to prepare paper with photosensive chemicals to take  with me on my trip to Australia this summer. It took a little while to calibrate the exposure ( Even in midwinter, the sun is more intense there).

It was such fun to experiment with a new technique, to take home unique images of the leaves and flowers of each place, location, and time of day (couldn't get the actual items through customs).

I'm not finished yet! My plan is to work into these with pen and ink, to add some texture and complexity to the images, and I've got a few more ideas as well......

Looking forward to sharing the finished project with shareholders at the Harvest Party in November!
